"Excellent work from a pair of professionals. As a Professional Engineer myself, I was amazed by the level of detail he put into his report and now have a clear list of home tasks I can take care of over the next few years. They are by far the best value you'll find and a pleasure to work with".
Certified Master Inspectors take their profession seriously and aspire to be the "Best of the Best".
Home Inspecting is our primary occupation, we are not retired "Engineers" looking to augment our incomes, Contractors who just put down their hammers and picked up a pencil, folks laid off from another industry that just finished NYS's 100 hour training course requirement and want to BE Home Inspectors...
We ARE Home Inspection Professionals!
Do "Engineers" make good Home Inspectors? As in any profession...sometimes yes, sometimes no.
One thing is for sure...If you hire a Professional Engineer to perform a Home Inspection, they will be performing a Home Inspection as defined by New York State Law - NOT an Engineering Study of your future home.
Before hiring a Professional Engineer ask them if they are going to provide you with engineering services in the course of their inspection. Better yet - read their contract - it will be right there in black and white and the answer will be - NO.
Home Inspections are not Engineering Studies or Engineering Evaluations!.
If you need an Engineering Evaluation they will undoubtedly suggest their own company - at an additional fee (Rightfully so) .
IF you need an Engineer, we might actually recommend the same "Engineering" company, but wouldn't it be better coming from a neutral third party?
If you feel that you must hire an Engineer for your home inspection, do your homework and search them on the web by name and company. Check references and search the web for reviews of their service...and of course, see if they are Certified Master Inspectors!
